A photograph
of a missing person, caught
catching themselves
in artless memory
I stop
to let her take it
Lone red lies by
its shrinking statue,
behind her behind
layered lenses, collapsed,
I stand stilled-
A poppy before me
never seen
Poetas, Ustedes no se meuren- Poetry by Carlo Saio
The more I lose my words the more I uncover my soul
A photograph
of a missing person, caught
catching themselves
in artless memory
I stop
to let her take it
Lone red lies by
its shrinking statue,
behind her behind
layered lenses, collapsed,
I stand stilled-
A poppy before me
never seen
